Join Our Journey

My dear brothers and sisters,

I am Rev. Henry J. Torres, the current pastor of Mary of Nazareth parish, and it is with great joy that I welcome you to our lovely parish family. As your pastor, my mission is to facilitate an encounter with you and our Heavenly Father, and to journey together towards the path of holiness, so that we may arrive at the Father’s House.

Through the gift of Baptism, we have been adopted by God and become a family of faith. We are not islands to ourselves, and we are not called to journey alone through this life. I hope that you can find a true sense of home in our parish. If you feel lost or like you're drowning in your problems, know that you are loved, and you can always come home. The Father and your parish family are waiting for you.

I believe that our parish has the potential to be a vibrant and dynamic community of faith, where all are welcomed and encouraged to grow in their relationship with God. To achieve this, we will need to work together to build a strong sense of community and belonging, and to offer a variety of ministries and activities that meet the needs of our diverse parishioners.

In closing, I would like to offer a prayer and a blessing for all those who will read this message. May the love of God fill your hearts and guide you on your journey of faith.

In Christ,
Fr. Henry

Mass: What to Expect

The central Catholic act of worship is attending the Mass, or Divine Liturgy. The Mass is divided into two parts: the Liturgy of the Word, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

During the first part, the priest leads us in prayer and songs, praising God, thanking Him, and asking Him for forgiveness. We hear Scripture readings, the priest gives a talk, and then we all pronounce the core principles of our faith.

In the second part, the priest says the blessing, transforming bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ. We all say the "Our Father" prayer, and then receive communion. Finally, there is a closing prayer and final blessing.
